News From The Founders ...

david and reginaWell, another year is coming to a close.. This year has certainly had some challenges. With the price of fertilizer, seeds and grain going up, all feeds have increased by $3 a bag at least. Hay and straw has also gone up. Corn and oats are the highest they have ever been and that is IF oats can be found. It has been a very wet year and that in itself causes problems.

The economy has been tough for everyone and we receive calls daily about taking more animals in. We are helping with networking for dogs and cats, but we are full with the large animals. We have only had 2 potbellied pigs and one miniature horse adopted this year. If they don't go to new homes, we can't take more in.

We will be sending out our printed newsletter this month. If you would like to stop receiving that and get the e mail newsletter only, please send me an e mail and I will put you on the list. We do have the bulk mail permit, but it seems that the paperless is the way of the future.

We have had some great volunteer groups and of course our Allegheny College Students are here on a weekly basis. We are very thankful for our sponsors and the Vet Tech Institute program. They are what are keeping our doors open.

We have lost 5 of our old time piggies due to old age. They had good lives here and it is always hard to say goodbye.

FUND RAISING: For fund raising this winter, we have an avon representative that is going to use Hog Heaven as her nonprofit. Her daughter was one of our vet tech students and that is how she learned about us. Her name is Vivian Hogue and her web site is: vhogue.avonrepresentative.com. Vivian will donate 20% of her sales now thru Dec 25th.. What a great way to buy local and also help our rescue.

Also, you can sponsor an animal for your Christmas gift. We will send a nice letter and certificate of sponsorship with a photo of the sponsored animal.

Please remember to keep your money for your gifts local, rather than buy items made in china. Local car washes, oil changes and restaurant certificates. Gym and book certificates for the kidos.. Let's really make a difference this year with our local companies and keep our hard earned money local.

RETURNED ANIMALS: Miss Lilly the black and white pig came back to live with us.. she is a very sweet girl and would love a home of her own.

Jonah and Lil Man have come back to be rehomed. Lil Man isn't so little anymore! He is now 15.3 hands. Built much like an appendix.. long and lean. He does need some groceries and started under saddle. We had them trimmed and they will get their vaccines shortly

Princess Jordan and Obi are back from the trainer. They are patiently waiting for their forever homes as are Sadie Dawn and Levi. Please consider sending a donation to help us with the winter costs. Remember, every penny counts!

Please give us a call and come out for a visit! The farm is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Sundays. We would love to see you!

Regina, David, and critters!

NEW ARRIVALS:

We have not had any new arrivals, however, I do get calls daily from people needing to find homes for their animals. Even though Hog Heaven does not take in dogs and cats, we are very active in networking to help find homes.

Donations ...

Our monthly sponsors are our blessings. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.. any donation helps with the costs of caring for the animals that are here. As with everything, our feed costs have gone up. And don't forget the POP's from Nutrena horse feeds.. we get .35 for each one. We still have hoodie sweatshirts available for $25 plus S&H.

We are always looking for new ideas on how to raise funds. We will be having students coming again for their 50 hours of community service. That always helps.

About Hog Heaven

Hog Heaven Rescue Farm Inc. is a 501(C)( 3) not for profit hoofed animal rescue. Founded by Regina and David Allman to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home if possible, any animal who has been abused, abandoned, neglected or surrendered into our care. We then work closely with our Vet, farrier, and volunteers to get the animals healthy physically, emotionally and socially then placing them into well screened forever homes. Visit About Us page for more detail. Since inception Hog Heaven has re-homed hundreds of animals. Excluding the ones currently in their care, as well as animals helped indirectly via transporting, castrating and advertising. All with funds from the founders and generous donors like you.

HHRF News is sent out once a month. Occasionally special alert newsletters are also send out. Please be sure our e-mail addresses are in your address book so the news does not go to the trash or spam folder. We will never sell or give out our subscribers email addresses.

Be a Foster Parent

Hog Heaven offers a foster parent program that allows you to keep an animal at your home to love and socialize. Doing so provides space at the farm for another animal in need and lightening the total in our care. Fosters have first option to adopt and all costs are tax deductible.

Visit our Foster page for details.

Be a Sponsor

If you cannot adopt or foster, you can still help an animal through our sponsorship program.

For only $50.00 per month you can sponsor a horse and be his or her angel.

Or for only $25.00 a month you can sponsor a pot belly pig. Most of the pigs at Hog Heaven will live out their lives here. Because the sad truth is adopters seek babies and ours are older.

Visit our Sponsor page today for more details.

Buy Feed or Hay

If sponsoring is beyond your means, you can still help our animals by purchasing feed or hay for as little as $3.00

Visit our Ways to Help page today for more details.

Shop 'Till You Drop!

Visit our Shopping Page to purchase from our affiliates. They donate a portion of your purchase to Hog Heaven.

On the same page we offer shirts, caps, candles and horse shoe nail crosses. 100 percent of the proceeds from these items goes directly to our farm.
