Alpacas

There is an adoption fee of $400.00, but because they are HERD animals, you must adopt two (unless you already have an Alpaca or a Llama). Adoption fee does not include transportation. There is an additional fee of $20.00 for the manditory purchase of an alpaca book with each adoption. ("Caring for Llamas and Alapcas". A health management guide by Clare Hoffman DVM and Ingrid Asmus. 179 pages, large spiral paperback.)

An Important Message from Regina

These alpaca's are not rescues, but donations to the rescue farm. Not every male is of breeding quality. The breeding that alpaca breeders do to improve the fiber on their herd makes yesterday's champions not the champions of today.
We have offered breeders a way to allow them to downsize their non breeding males, receive a tax write-off, and also allow us to introduce alpaca's to folks that would like to try them as pets, fiber animals, and/or 4 H projects.
This is the first program that we know of that allows alpaca's to be obtained without the financial investments necessary for a breeding herd. It is again a win-win situation and we are very excited about this offering.
The alpaca's donated to Hog Heaven are very well cared for and registered alpacas. There are a variety of colors and we have both suri and huayca's ... They are a wonderful, docile animal with fun personalities. Of course, as with all animals, you get out of them what you put into them as far as handling and calmness.

Beginning 10 days after approval, there is a $50.00 per month fee due for feed until the animals are delivered or picked up by the adopter.

No adoptions west of the Mississippi. U.S.A. only.

Please advise Regina what tests are required by YOUR state in order to transport alpaca there.

Applications will only be processed on Wednesdays so please be patient for a response.
